Welcome to Blackbird Midwifery!
My name is Micki, but I go by Maeve, my pronouns are she/her. I have worn many hats in my 43 years, including: nanny, barista, birth & postpartum doula to name a few. I am constantly seeking ways to learn and grow both as a midwife and human. I have an AS in Science, BA in Sociology and recently a BSM in Midwifery.
I am a NARM Certified Professional Midwife and Licensed Direct Entry Midwife here on the Oregon Coast. I did my 2 year apprenticeship with Fig Midwifery based out of Salem, OR. I moved to Seaside shortly after graduation. I quickly realized that we are in great need here on the coast for all avenues of medical care but, especially more options for birthing families. I am grateful to have the opportunity to open the door of homebirth for the low risk clients in our community. I accept OHP* and private cash pay clients.
I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Gavin, for 21 years. We struggled with infertility for ten of those years. Throughout that time I channeled my grief into loving on other families either as a nanny or as they walked through their own loss. Always, no matter what was happening with me, I have found joy in supporting people through their pregnancy, birth and postpartum journey either as a doula or now as a midwife.
Why midwifery? The short version is that I want to provide birthing people with compassionate care. Every single person deserves to receive care that starts with a listening ear, an honest conversation and informed decision making. I want to provide a safe environment where everyone feels welcome, respected and empowered to achieve the birth they desire.
I am honored to be part of the community as a whole here on the coast! If I’m not attending a birth you’ll find me scooping ice cream at Ziggy’s, walking Theo (my corgi), or hanging out at Cullaby Lake.
I can’t wait to meet you and watch your family grow!
